With an experience of 50-plus first class matches, Anupam Sanklecha has bagged 180-odd wickets playing for Maharashtra. His debut came in 2004 at Pune as he was a part of the Maharasthra Ranji team that played against Baroda. In 2016, Sanklecha was on a roll, was a dream run as he claimed two successive 10-wicket hauls - one of them came against Assam as a result of which Maharasthra won that Ranji trophy fixture comprehensively.
A bowling average in mid 20's and an economy rate of less than 3 at the first-class level is quite an inspiring achievement and at the age of 36 Sanklecha is still going strong. Known for his accurate bowling and consistency, Anupam Sanklecha is a role model for many young pacers in Maharashtra's squad. But, it would be interesting to see how long he keeps going. His first target would be to overhaul the 200-wicket mark in Test cricket. It would be quite a remarkable feat, if he achieves it.
