Profile
Born on October 14, 1988 in Faisalabad, Asad Ali has been earmarked as one for the future by the Pakistan selectors. A smooth action, and having an ability to maintain an accurate line and length, Ali was a part of the team on the tours of Scotland and Ireland in 2013, and also played in the Champions Trophy held in England in 2013.

A consistent domestic performer, Ali came into prominence in 2011 with excellent showings for his employers Sui Gas as well as his domestic side, Faisalabad. Skipper, Misbah-ul-Haq, under whom he plied his wares for Faisalabad was impressed and an injury to Umar Gul meant an opening was created ahead of the Champions Trophy.

Asad made his debut for Pakistan against Ireland and returned with decent figures of 1/22 from eight overs. He featured in the practise game against South Africa in the Champions Trophy, and ended with impressive figures of 3/30. Despite his good show, he wasn't considered for any of the group encounters.
