Profile
One of the most capped players to play for Scotland, Majid Haq rose through age-group cricket playing in the Under-17, Under-19 and Under-23 teams before making his senior debut. Born and brought up in Paisley, Haq is of Pakistani descent and played alongside his cousin Omer Hussain, who enjoyed a brief stint with Scotland. His ODI debut came against Bangladesh in December 2006 and he registered several consistent performances thereafter to establish himself permanently in the national side.

Haq made his highest ODI score of 71 against Kenya during the World Cricket League. He was a part of the 2007 World Cup team and performed well with the ball too. Despite fitness concerns, Haq's gritty performances earned him a full-time contract in 2010. In 2011, he was named as the bowler of the year. At Aberdeen in June 2011, he recorded the first hundred of his career against the Netherlands in the Intercontinental Cup.

Haq has unfailingly provided Scotland's lower-order the much-needed support and is a handy spinner. In September 2014, he earned his 200th cap (all matches, all formats) for Scotland, becoming only the second Scot to reach the landmark after Craig Wright. He is also the leading wicket-taker in the current side and the only bowler in the squad with a five-for to his name.
