Profile
Shujauddin played only 19 Tests for Pakistan and didn't really produce impressive numbers in his wicket tally. However, the left-arm spinner was highly respected in the country for his persona. A prisoner of war during the 1971 India-Pakistan battle, he was a Colonel in the army at that point of time. A tough cricketer during his days, Shujauddin was an inspirational figure to those around him and his character mostly took the limelight from his bowling skills. It wasn't that he was bad at his craft, Shujauddin was a defensive left arm spinner who kept one end tight with relentless accuracy. He didn't have too many variations and hence, stuck to the basic rule of hitting the same spot over and over again. After his cricketing days, he shifted to England and in 2006, passed away in London.
