Profile
A wristy batsman, Kumar Shri Duleepsinhji, scored 995 runs in 12 Tests at a stellar average of 58.42 before an illness cut short his career. He was also known to be a decent leg-break bowler. Interestingly, he was born in Kathiawar in Gujarat. After his playing career, Duleepsinhji was made chairman of Public Service Commission in Saurashtra. He died from a heart-attack in December 1959.
Trivia
1. The Dupleep Trophy has been named in his honour.
2. His uncle, Kumar Shri Ranjitsinhi, after whom the Ranji Trophy has been named, also played cricket for England.
