Profile
Ivo Bligh, the 8th Earl of Darnley, captained England in the first ever Test series against Australia with the Ashes at stake in 1881-83. Bligh also plied his trade for Cambridge University and Kent in a first-class career that lasted from 1877-1883. His career was cruelly cut short by ill-health.

Post retirement, Bligh went on to become the President of MCC in 1900. The Countess of Darnley handed the urn to the House of Lords after her husband's death.
