MIW 179/6 (20)
GGTW 170 (20)
Mumbai Indians Women won by 9 runs
PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Harmanpreet Kaur

A simple equation in front of the Mumbai Indians now. Win tomorrow and book a place in the final. A loss would ensure a spot for the DC. Just the last league game remains and the defending champions RCB have nothing to lose as they aim to finish on a high. They lost five in a row after two successive wins. Can they block the final route for MI? All of that for tomorrow. Cheers!!

Harmanpreet Kaur | Player of the Match: We bowled well in patches, but we should give credit to their batters, they kept the match on and we have to learn from our mistakes. We will rethink what went wrong and in the next game we will learn from our mistakes. We got decent total on the board and we were in the game in the first 10 overs, but credit to Bharti for the way she batted today and that is how the wicket plays here. It is always about the match-ups and the most important thing is gut-feeling and lucky to have lot of experience in our bowling. Very happy whenever you get runs and I was enjoying my batting and want to continue my rhythm. I keep trusting myself that whatever the ball is coming I want to utilize it the best way. We understood how the conditions are and as a group we will rethink our learnings and execute in the best way tomorrow. Recovery is going to play a very big role because we are playing back-to-back games.

Amelia Kerr: Been a bit of a frustrating tournament with the bat, nice to get the opportunity to bat at the top and probably I need to give myself a bit more time. We would have liked a few more runs at the 10 over mark, but Yastika put the icing on the cake in the end which helped us push towards 170. I'm trying to keep the stumps in play because that is my most attacking option.

Ash Gardner: We knew that it is a high scoring venue, we could have kept them to 160 and that is what happens sometimes, when you don't save runs it becomes crucial in the second innings. We had the safety blanket of knowing that we are in the finals, it kind of gave us the breathing room to try and win the game as quickly as we could, and that is a big positive. Kashvee is capable of doing that role (opening the batting) and we know her strength is playing down the ground and that is probably an area which is in focus to improve on our batting in the powerplay. We have seen what she (Fulmali) is capable of doing, gives her plenty of confidence going into the final. Amazing to see her play that way and she almost took us home. We will hope to change that in the final (the losing streak against MI).

Mumbai Indians won all six games against Gujarat Giants and also MI Women have not lost to anyone at the Brabourne Stadium in five WPL matches.

23:10 local, 17:40 GMT, 23:10 IST: The Giants promoted Kashvee to open the innings alongside Mooney, but the move didn't pay dividends. Both openers got out in the powerplay with just 41 on the board. They needed impetus and just when Harleen settled into her rhythm, she was trapped plumb in front by Amelia Kerr. Lack of meaningful contributions from Gardner and Dottin didn't help their cause either. Litchfield played a few innovative strokes, but after her departure Bharti Fulmali gave a massive scare to the Mumbai Indians. She found her mojo and smashed a 25-ball 61 that included 8 fours and 4 sixes. The Giants threw everything they had and recovered incredibly well to get within the reach of the target after losing 4/54 in the 9th over. Stick around for the post-match reactions...

Matthews to Priya Mishra, out Stumped!! First win for MI defending a total. They maintain their winning streak against the Giants. Was a quicker delivery bowled wide of off, Mishra wanted to force it through the off-side and missed it completely. Yastika tried to stump and withdrew her first attempt, but as soon as she saw Mishra walk out of her crease, the stumps were knocked over. Did Mishra walk out of her crease a bit too early? It is a 9-run win for the Mumbai Indians as they move to the second spot. Priya Mishra st Yastika b Matthews 1(3)

Matthews to Priya Mishra, THATS OUT!! Stumped!!

19.5

Matthews to Priya Mishra, no run, flat outside off, Mishra looks to play the reverse scoop and missed it completely. No bat involved and she managed to drag her foot back in the nick of time...No bat on UltraEdge and the impact is well outside off as well

Double review. First for a caught behind from MI and then the stumping. Priya Mishra is safe on both counts...

19.4

Matthews to Meghna Singh, 1 run, lofts the full delivery and it drops well short of the fielder at long-off to her right

19.3

Matthews to Priya Mishra, 1 run, full on off, Priya Mishra sweeps to the right of deep mid-wicket

Priya Mishra, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.2

Matthews to Simran Shaikh, out Bowled!! Got her. Quicker and straighter, Simran Shaikh comes dancing down the wicket and plays all around it. Wanted to slog, but no dice. Simran Shaikh b Matthews 18(16) [4s-1 6s-1]

Matthews to Simran Shaikh, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

Meghna Singh, right handed bat, comes to the crease

19.1

Matthews to Simran Shaikh, out Tanuja Kanwar Run Out!! 1 run completed. Wild slog from Simran Shaikh and it goes high up in the air to the right of the bowler. Matthews turns back and tries to take the high ball, but makes a meal of it in the end. She does well to collect the ball on the bounce and throw it to Amanjot waiting at the bowler's end. There was never a two there and Tanuja Kanwar eventually sacrificed herself to put Simran Shaikh back on strike. Tanuja Kanwar run out (Matthews/Amanjot Kaur) 10(6) [4s-2]

Matthews to Simran Shaikh, THATS OUT!! Run Out!!
