Islamabad United are flying once again. The defending champions are three out of three and all three have been convincing victories. The batters are in form, the bowlers are picking wickets for fun and the fielding too has been pretty decent, they are already the side to beat. As for Multan Sultans it has been a tough start with back to back defeats but you'd expect Mohammad Rizwan to get his team firing soon. That's all from our coverage. More cricket coming up tomorrow. Join us for all the action. Until next time, goodbye and stay safe..
Shadab Khan: [Translated] When we batted first the pitch was not easy, it was a bit tacky and the ball was not coming on. But Farhan gave us a good start and the finish was good by Haider and Holder. The pitch seemed a typical Rawalpindi pitch in the second innings. I knew I had a good match-up against Rizwan and was happy to win that match-up. Iftikhar's strike rate against left-arm pace is low and that's why Holder went round the wicket. The season has just started, we still have 7 games to go but we are ticking the boxes. Yes, we need to peak at the right moment in such tournaments and hopefully this is the right moment.
Jason Holder | Player of the Match: Just enjoying the game. We were tested in this game but we responded well. We are building nicely and need to keep improving. I took some time to get the pace of the wicket and luckily was able to get one or two away. I just try to stay as low as I possible can while I am batting. I was happy with my plans, was pretty clear with what I wanted to do and happy with the execution.
Mohammad Rizwan: [Translated] They scored more than we wanted. The ball was gripping a bit. We didn’t take the 50-50 chances. They got rhythm and momentum. We are still searching for our best XI. We didn’t capture the key moments. Still early days, things haven’t gone our way with both bat and ball. We hope to improve.
00:23 Local Time, 19:23 GMT, 00:53 IST: A tame surrender from Multan Sultans. They started well even though Shai Hope went in the first over. Rizwan and Usman added a 59-run partnership within the powerplay and set-up the chase. The skipper kept going and at the halfway mark the asking rate was under control while the Sultans still had 7 wickets in hand. But the departure of Rizwan in the 11th over changed the complexion of the game as the Sultans kept losing wickets at regular intervals and could not stitch any partnerships. Iftikhar Ahmed fought a lone battle at one end as there was no support from the other. All the Islamabad bowlers were among the wickets but it was Holder who stood out with figures of 4 for 25. Presentations coming up..
Muhammad Shahzad to Iftikhar Ahmed, out Caught by Holder!! That's that. Islamabad United win by 47 runs. Iftikhar perishes while trying to reduce the margin of defeat. Slower back of a length delivery and Iftikhar could not generate enough power on his back foot loft to clear long-off, Holder runs to his right and hangs on to the catch.
