Born on July 13, 1981 in Karachi, Zaidi played for Islamabad in the Pakistan domestic league before migrating to England to further his cricketing career. A left handed batsman, Zaidi is also an useful left-arm orthodox spinner.
Zaidi has played for Pakistan 'A' as well, but it was a contract with the UK based club, Wood Lane CC that helped him in furthering his ambitions. He wrote to several counties requesting a trial, and all his efforts bore fruit when he was offered a two year contract by Sussex during the 2013 season.
