Profile
The Victorian, Sam Loxton, was a tenacious batsman, who could also move the ball both ways in the air. He was part of the 'Invincibles' that toured England in 1948.

If we look back at his career, Loxton made his Test debut against India in 1947-48 at the MCG. Loxton then, made a few useful contributions during the tour of England. However, it was against South Africa in 1949-50 that he shone brightly and notched up a century in the Test played in Johannesburg.

Loxton didn't have a good time during the 1951 Ashes and that series turned out to be the last time he played for his country. Loxton though, played First-Class cricket until 1957-58. He also served as a selector of the Australian team for close to a decade in the 1970s and early 1980s.
