PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Sam Billings

Sydney Thunder will be playing their first BBL final since 2016 when they'd beaten the Stars from Melbourne for their only trophy. On the other hand, Hurricanes, who last reached the final in 2018, will be looking at lifting the cup for the first-time ever. Two relatively less fancied teams at the start of the tournament, but they've been superb right through and are the deserving finalists. Will it be the Canes or will Thunder steal the spotlight on the 27th? We'll be back with ball-by-ball coverage of the big day. For now, cheers and bye..

Sam Billings | Player of the Match: It's brilliant. I don't think we played our perfect game, hopefully we are saving that for Monday. Good team performance, the bowlers were brilliant and that really set the tone. Just get across the line, we've done it all season, we are just finding a way, really happy. The great thing about this tournament is we've practically played two finals in the last couple of days in very different conditions. We had to adapt quickly. We've got enough experience around the group to calm the young lads down. But it's funny, in finals sometimes, the younger lads are the ones that just fly out there. We know we have the quality to get the job done. (On David Warner's aggressive attitude) When doesn't he have that attitude? It's infectious, his attitude and the way he approaches the game. Obviously as an Englishman saying that, a few people at home will be cursing me. To play alongside him, you learn everyday. You see why he's one of the best players ever to play this format of the game. For us to have that experience and that leadership there, he's played brilliantly this year. We have won another final without him getting a solid contribution. It's been a real team effort. All to play for, we know we are playing arguably the best team in the competition and on their home patch, really looking forward to it. That's why you play the game, you want to be in finals.

22:32 Local Time, 11:32 GMT, 17:02 IST: 151 was never going to be enough on this pitch, but credit to the Sixers for staying in the game right till the end. Plenty of starts for Thunder and that was probably the defining moment in the chase. Warner, Jason Sangha and Matthew Gilkes, all got into double digits and played their role in ensuring that they were ahead of the asking rate. That allowed Sam Billings, their English import, to hold one end up and he ensured that they didn't panic, not when they were reduced to 100 for 4 and then to 131 for 6. Chris Green and Nathan McAndrew played vital cameos and with Billings making a 29-ball 42*, it ensured that Thunder were home and dry with time to spare. They'll now face a confident Hurricanes in their own den, but they do have a couple of days to get ready for the big match.

18.5

Dwarshuis to McAndrew, SIX, Thunder Nation win, they're through to the final - Billings runs across to his partner and hugs him in joy, Warner looks happy in the dug-out and they'll now travel to Hobart to face the Canes in the final of #BBL25. Was a length delivery and McAndrew nonchalantly lifted it over mid-off, went soaring into the stands and Thunder have beaten their cross-town neighbours

18.4

Dwarshuis to McAndrew, 2 runs, scores are level now, on a good length and just outside off, bowled into the pitch and McAndrew doesn't get a lot on the swing, just enough to clear cover and he's back for the second

18.4

Dwarshuis to McAndrew, wide, back of a length and angling down leg, past McAndrew's flick and is called as a wide

18.3

Dwarshuis to McAndrew, FOUR, thumped, Thunder edge closer towards a place in the final, back of a length and well outside off, McAndrew backs away, opens up the off-side and then clatters the drive over cover for a boundary

Dwarshuis, from round the wicket - deep mid-wicket in place, deep backward square leg as well

18.2

Dwarshuis to McAndrew, no run, banged in short and angling across the right-hander - McAndrew swings across the line and misses

18.1

Dwarshuis to McAndrew, FOUR, McAndrew is winning this for Thunder - back of a length and at the stumps, stayed a fraction low, but he was swinging off his hips, drags it behind square on the on-side and the ball races away

Ben Dwarshuis [2.0-0-23-0] is back into the attack

Run-a-ball needed off the last 12 balls, we're into the 2nd over of the surge

17.6

Hayden Kerr to Billings, SIX, magnificent, that run saved from the Sixers captain has now cost his team a maximum - length ball from Kerr, Billings clears his front leg and then hoists it high into the stands at mid-wicket. Thunder edge ahead now, despite losing a wicket in that over

17.5

Hayden Kerr to McAndrew, 3 runs, useful runs for McAndrew, that'll keep Thunder going - on a good length and at the stumps, he leant forward and then got enough on the lofted drive to clear the two men in the ring - a big chase for Henriques and he does well to pull the ball back into play, saving a run for his team. The 3rd umpire has a few looks, but it's a good effort from the Sixers captain

17.4

Hayden Kerr to McAndrew, no run, a direct hit at the bowler's end and Billings might've been short, he was backing up for a quick single and was sent back, would've been well short - on a good length and just outside off, McAndrew clears his front-leg and mistimes the slog to mid-wicket

Nathan McAndrew, right handed bat, comes to the crease

17.3

Hayden Kerr to George Garton, out Bowled!! Clattered! That'll keep Sixers alive, on a good length and angling back into the left-hander, Garton opened up his front leg and was looking to slog it over towards the on-side, missed it completely and hears the death rattle behind him. 6 down and they still need 21 off 15 balls. George Garton b Hayden Kerr 2(3)

Hayden Kerr to George Garton, THATS OUT!! Bowled!!

17.2

Hayden Kerr to Billings, 1 run, slower short ball on the body, muscled away past square leg, but there's a fielder in the deep and it's only a single

Billings needs to take control of the power surge, that'll be the hope for Thunder. For Sixers, his wicket will be huge
