Unbeaten on 67 overnight, Mumbai's Akash Anand registered a century on the third day but his milestone was one of the few highlights for Mumbai in an otherwise tough day on the field. By the end of it, Vidarbha had consolidated their strong position getting an overall lead of 260 runs.
Vidarbha take control despite Akash Anand's ton

With only the tail for company, Anand had managed to eat into the deficit putting on an important 69-run stand for the 8th wicket with Tanush Kotian whilst also bringing up his century. But it wasn't enough from preventing Vidarbha taking a crucial 113-run first innings lead. But building on the lead was not a bed of roses for Vidarbha with Atharvai Taide being dismissed off the second ball of the innings by Shardul Thakur.
Shams Mulani and Tanush Kotian combined to keep up the pressure sharing three wickets and reducing Vidarbha to 56-4 at one stage in the second innings. But they managed to dig themselves out of the hole through a patient, gritty partnership for the fifth wicket. Both Yash Rathod (59*) and captain Akshay Wadkar (31*) dug in to arrest the slide first and adding an unbeaten 91-run stand by the end of the day. That stand tilted the balance towards Vidarbha once again in the hard-fought encounter.
Brief Scores: Vidarbha 383 (Danish Malewar 79, Dhruv Shorey 74; Shivam Dube 5-49, Royston Dias 2-48) & 147/4 (Yash Rathod 59*) lead Mumbai 270 (Akash Anand 106, Shardul Thakur 37; Parth Rekhade 4-55) by 260 runs
